Google Pixel Buds Pro — Flagship True Wireless Earbuds Review

The Google Pixel Buds Pro represent Google’s first full-featured, flagship-grade true wireless earbuds. Priced to compete with the top tier of the market, they aim to provide a seamless experience for those deep in the Google ecosystem. After extended real-world use, they prove to be a powerful, if not quite perfect, step forward for Google's audio hardware.

Google Pixel Buds Pro Overview

Design & Charging Case: Familiar Upgrades

The charging case maintains the signature soft-touch white silicone exterior found in earlier models, but it now includes Qi wireless charging. This addition significantly improves daily convenience, allowing you to drop the case on a charging pad and forget about cables.

The earbuds themselves have shed the "stabilising fin" of the A-Series, opting for a simpler shape and larger silicone tips. A built-in pressure-sensing system monitors and automatically relieves ear-canal pressure, making them exceptionally comfortable for long listening sessions.

ANC & Transparency: Silent Seal Technology

This is Google's debut for Active Noise Cancellation in the Pixel Buds line, and it's strikingly effective. Using “Silent Seal” technology, the earbuds analyse ear shape and adapt ANC in real time. The noise suppression is powerful—almost aggressively so—leaving only the faintest ambient sounds behind.

Transparency Mode, by contrast, is functional but less natural. While voices come through clearly, they have a subtly flattened, digitally processed character. It's perfectly usable for awareness but doesn't quite match the transparency of the industry leaders.

Battery Life: True Flagship Endurance

Battery performance is a standout strength for the Pixel Buds Pro:

  • ANC On: ~7 hours per charge (up to 20 hours with case).
  • ANC Off: ~11 hours per charge (up to 31 hours with case).

Combined with wireless charging, battery anxiety is essentially non-existent for most users.

Connectivity & Smart Features

The addition of Multipoint Bluetooth is a "quietly excellent" feature. It allows you to connect to two devices simultaneously—like your phone and your tablet—and switch audio automatically without manual intervention.

Touch controls include tapping and long-pressing for Assistant or ANC toggling. Google added swipe gestures for volume control, which is a promising idea, though in practice, swipe detection can be inconsistent and requires refinement.

Audio Quality: Tuned for Everyone

The audio tuning is clean, balanced, and broad in its appeal.

  • Highs: Controlled and clear without harshness.
  • Mids: Forward and vocal-focused presence.
  • Bass: Punchy and elastic, maintaining its shape without becoming bloated.

While it lacks support for high-res codecs like LDAC or aptX, the AAC and SBC performance remains solid and stable for everyday Android listening.

Verdict: The Complete Android Earbud

The Google Pixel Buds Pro offer a compelling package of strong ANC, excellent battery life, and seamless Multipoint connectivity for under $200. While the touch swipes and transparency mode could use more polish, they are undoubtedly one of the most complete true wireless experiences available for Android users today.
